Shoulder arthroscopy, a minimally invasive surgical procedure, is considered an effective method for repairing rotator cuff tears. The single-row technique is particularly preferred because it causes less tissue damage and allows a faster recovery. This technique fixes the rotator cuff tendons to the bone, helping restore shoulder function. Prof. Dr. Mahir Mahiroğulları discusses in detail …
This is a demonstration of a repair performed on a model using the single-row technique, following arthroscopic principles. The area marked in red on the model is the cuff footprint. As can be seen in this repair: 1. Double-loaded metal suture anchors were used; 2. For demonstration purposes, in both anchors one suture was passed through the tendon tissue in a mattress configuration and the other in a simple configuration. Since the procedure was performed on a delicate model, there were some limitations. One of these is that some steps were carried out by hand and others with arthroscopic instruments. For the same reason, the anchors could not be inserted at exactly the deadman angle. However, these limitations did not prevent the general principles of arthroscopic repair from being conveyed.
